Surviving In Singapore, “The Most Expensive City In The World’

The key to surviving and even thriving where the cost of living is very high, is to create income streams, preferably passive. Learn how I did this.

I was listening to the news a week or so ago, and it reminded me of a blog post I wrote a couple of years back about the cost of living in Singapore.

At the time, the cost of living in Singapore was approximately 20% higher than in New York, London, or Los Angeles, according to the Economist and Bloomberg.

And it used to cause me sleepless nights.

Fast forward to today, and that news story reported that Singapore was found to be the most expensive city for the fifth year in a row, the difference this year is that Paris and Hong Kong join Singapore as the most expensive places to live, and since last year, New York and Los Angeles have joined the top 10.

This is according to the Economic Intelligence Unit’s annual Worldwide Cost Of Living report.

Since 2014, Singapore has consistently been in the number 1 spot.

But I no longer have sleepless nights.

What changed?

Back then, even though I used to earn a high income as a senior corporate lawyer, living in a place like Singapore meant that I needed to look for alternative or additional sources of income.

In 2016, I learnt to market online…

Of all the income streams I’ve experienced, the one that gives the highest returns the fastest, is to market digital products that belonged to other people.  That way, I was only responsible for sending them customers, everything else was fulfilled by them.

This model is fairly passive, because once you set up the traffic flow, you can be pretty hands off.  Also, once you’ve learnt to market one product, you can diversify into marketing many complimentary products at a very low cost.

Using my home business brand Digimax Life, as an example, I market the Six Figure Mentors as I am a brand ambassador for them.  However, I also market other courses to my email list, as well as tools that home business owners might need, eg, accounting software, etc.

Many of these tools are subscription based.  Imagine getting a subscription commission of $10 per month from 1000 users for 1 product.  That’s 10k a month from just one product.  When you multiply that by various products, creating multiple income streams, you have a very stable, and profitable business.

And all that started with learning to market 1 product online well, and using that to build my marketing audiences.

You can do this too, but be sure to pick the right product carefully 🙂
