5 Success Ingredients That Turned My Business Around In 3 Months

5 Success Ingredients That Turned My Business Around In 3 Months

I often get asked how I started, what I did, and what was special in the 3 month pivot from struggling to success. I’ve broken all the action I took into 5 key success ingredients.

But before we start, let me preface that by saying that we all have greatness built into us. One of the things we like to say in our entrepreneurship community is this: The only difference between someone just starting out, and the top producers in the community is – TIME.

As I wrote this, I felt I need to qualify that. You need to take action in that time, otherwise, time just passes by. And you never get that time back.

When I first heard that time is what distinguishes me from the people at the top, I was inspired, but honestly wondered how much time is required. I also wondered what action was required.

With the help of my mentors, I took action, and lost over 30 pounds and made my first USD30k online all within 3 months of starting to take focused action.

Since then, I’ve constantly been asked – what did you do in those 3 months. Let me break it down into these 5 things, 5 success ingredients if you will, which I believe YOU HAVE IN YOU.

Success Ingredient #1 – I believed that I had it in me to do anything

I am made in the image and likeness of God. My bible tells me so. It also tells me that I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

There was therefore nothing standing in my way, except me. I had to get out of my own way. I had to change my mindset to stop looking at successful people and putting them on a pedestal or looking at them as inspiration.

I started looking at them as evidence – evidence of what could be achieved if I got out of my own way.

Success Ingredient #2 – I had to get out of my comfort zone

I had to stop doing things that I knew I could do. I had worked as a lawyer for 20 years. I knew I could do that. Having been a lawyer, I knew I could blog. Blogging was comfortable. But could I do video? That would be WAY outside my comfort zone. Video meant that I could no longer go back to being a lawyer – or at least that’s what I told myself.

So coming out of my comfort zone did a few fantastic things for me – it was stretching me as a person – I had to keep improving and learning this new skill.

It also put me in a place that was particularly uncomfortable – I had put myself in a position where I could not turn back. I was no longer trying this business out for size – I was playing for keeps.

Success Ingredient #3 – I learnt to focus

I focussed in 2 ways – first I learnt to do focussed work. I was house moving and building a business. But this is a ‘laptop’ business right? So, I shouldn’t let a little house moving get in the way. I was working out of a bowling alley because it allowed me to sit there and use the free wi-fi. Focus allowed me to get things done, regardless of my surroundings.

I also learnt to focus on one business – I ignored other opportunities that came. Law jobs were calling – ignored. Other business ventures looking for lawyers – ignored. And the toughest of all – ignoring all those ads that you see that promise you money for not doing any work. Tough – but ignored.

Success Ingredient #4 – I learnt and practiced my craft

This was a new profession I was stepping into. I cannot keep doing the same things if I was expecting different results. I had to start with small goals and build up to bigger things.

I learnt to market using smaller search engines. I made tonnes of mistakes on those smaller platforms before graduation to Google search.

I shot my first 30 second video. It sucked. I took the 90 day video challenge in our community. If you put everything I said above together with practicing a new craft – great things can happen. My day 14 video had over 14,000 views and started making me money. My day 33 video had over 30,000 views and that video alone made me over USD30k.

Imagine if I never stepped out of my comfort zone and learnt to start shooting video!

Success Ingredient #5 – Tenacity

My video journey of 14 days is probably making you think – ‘this guy has no business talking about tenacity’. When I first started my journey into internet marketing, I did not do any of the 4 things above. The only thing I had going for me was tenacity.

I made a lot of mistakes but I carried on. And then my coaches and mentors at the SFM got me to do the 4 things above. And I achieved great results.

So there you have it, my 5 success ingredients. Take them, use them, and write your success story!

I’m also happily available to share other things that led to my success with you, just drop me a line.
