How to start living YOUR life today

One of the things about running an online business, is that while I’m working from home, most of my buddies are still at work, and I don’t have a lot of people to chat with.

And so, I ended up becoming friends with retirees from my neighbourhood.

One of those retirees, whom I was speaking with yesterday shared something, which I thought may be helpful if I shared with you.

He retired a couple of years back, just as I moved into this estate, and yesterday, he said that he was going to renovate to cover up his fish ponds.

I was intrigued as I knew his passion was large exotic tropical fish, which needed to be in large ponds, so he couldn’t be putting them in tanks.

He said that with age, and grandchildren, having ponds was no longer feasible.  He’s had 2 years to enjoy the fish, and it was time to sell them.

When I heard that, I admired him for making that sacrifice for his grandchildren, and his own safety, but I was, at the same time, saddened that after working for over 40 years, he only enjoyed his hobby for 2.

Now, I’m NOT saying this because I want to tell you that an online business will allow you to do nothing but pursue your hobbies.

Because the truth is that an online business does take work.  Yes, I do rely heavily on automation, and that allows me to keep in touch with tens of thousands of people at a go, and even make sales in my sleep, but you still need to do the work to set all of that up, etc.

However, what an online business can do, is to allow you to schedule your own time, so that you can work around things that you are passionate about, or that are truly important to you.

In my case, that’s being at home for family, making time to cook for them, taking trips with my wife, which we never managed to because our work schedules conflicted, volunteer my time, etc.

An online business is still a business.

As I said it takes work, and there are risks, since with any real business, there are no guarantees.

But having the right mentors and training can allow you to do the right work, instead of stabbing in the dark, which lowers your work load, and at the same time reduces the risk, since you’re, well, doing the right work.
