Do you know your audience?

Know your audience and better engage them

Quite a number of you joined this list recently in order to learn about digital marketing and selling online.  If I had to share one tip with you, it would be that you have to know your audience.  Once you know your audience you can help them achieve their goals.  And helping them achieve their goals, means they’ll be back for more.

Know Your Audience
Know Your Audience

Surprised?  Well, I can’t be accused of not practicing what I preach, since I clearly knew why you came.  🙂

How did I know that you wanted to know this? Well, through various means, which we’ll talk about in various blogs in due course, but today we’ll talk about Google Analytics.

As I’ve said, knowing your audience and their desires is a key success factor for your blog or website. Google Analytics gives you a way to do this for free. Yes, you read that right, for free.

And in our view, it’s a must have.

In a nutshell, it will show you the “who”, “what”, “when”, and “where” of your website:

  • Who visited your website, what browser they used, their screen resolution, where they visited from
  • What pages they visited on your website they visited, how long they stayed, how many pages they viewed, ad what drove them away
  • When they visited. Knowing the best time of day to launch your posts or end your campaigns will help you optimise your results
  • Where they came from – was it via search (Google, Yahoo, Bing, etc), social networks (FaceBook, LinkedIn, etc), or a direct visitor. You will get a details of your sources of traffic – and following this through to conversions or sales allows you to grow the traffic that’s best for your business.

Knowing all of these will help you distill the “why” – why your audience comes – which will in turn help you drive traffic, the lifeblood of all online businesses. Knowing the “why” will put you a step ahead of those who just merely know their audience.

So, do you know your audience yet? With more and more online businesses using Google Analytics to identify and speak to their audience, those who don’t quickly get left behind.

The coaches at SFM are experienced online marketers with a strong track record of success. They can help you through this process. You could of course learn all of this on your own, but having someone walk you through it just saves you a lot of time and trial and error. If that sounds good to you, my friend Stuart, who has incidentally made millions by really getting to know his online audience, will tell you more about the 5 steps to creating a successful online business.

Alternatively, if you’re ready to really get to know your audience, and to start taking massive steps to building your online business, then sign up here to start your education right now.

As always, if there’s absolutely anything you want to discuss, you can reach me right here.

All the very best!
