Do You Sleep Well? – How I started sleeping well again
Sleep is so important, yet many are not able to sleep because of the stresses of life. Learn how this writer learnt to turn this around in his favor.
Sleep is so precious. The ability to fall asleep and to sleep through the night. Sleep gives our bodies a chance to heal, and ensures healthy brain function, and emotional well-being.
But many don’t sleep well. A lot has been written about the science behind sleep, offering reasons such as consuming too much caffeine or alcohol. But a study by the Anxiety and Depression Association of America found that most adults experienced stress-induced sleep problems at least once per week, and more than half experience it at least several times a week, with 75% saying that having sleep problems further increased their stress and anxiety!
I was no stranger to this. I worried about many things…
The rising cost of living in Singapore. Even though I earned a high wage, the cost of living in Singapore was the highest in the world, and was steadily rising.
Even as it stood, the cost of living in Singapore was approximately 20% higher than New York, London or Los Angeles, according to leading journal, The Economist. Please see the chart immediately following. Even Bloomberg thinks so! (See the image at the bottom of this blog.)
I wouldn’t be able to work forever, and I could never afford to stop working…
The fact that I kept on working meant that I would never have time for family, or to do anything that was important to me.
I was trapped. Which would be alright, except I worried about that too. The world was changing, and much of the work that was done by lawyer could be automated, and in a future that wasn’t too far away.
Simply put, I was in a vicious cycle.
I looked around to see how people around me were dealing with this…
They fell into 3 categories. There were those that didn’t need to. They had ridden the real estate bubble up, and were sitting pretty. Then there were those that weren’t dealing with it because they just didn’t know how to, and so chose to ignore it. And finally there were those that were trying to deal with in in whatever way they knew how. This last category were trying to invest in stocks and shares, get in on real estate, attending every seminar on making money they could get into, and in Singapore, there are many.
I fell into that last category. Even though I had made some money in real estate, with inflationary pressures everywhere else, one could not hope to retire in Singapore without some decent passive income.
So, I count myself incredibly blessed to have found the Six Figure Mentors…
Using their business systems, I’ve managed to build myself a stable business which has more than replaced my lawyer’s salary. I’ve also learnt to create multiple passive income streams. Some of these income streams could possibly outlive me, and once they’re launched, no other work is required, unless you consider banking in a check once a month, work. And if I need a burst of cash, I simply launch another campaign.
All this is so do-able in this day and age. We just need someone to show us how – and I’m so grateful to my mentors and coaches at the Six Figure Mentors for showing me the way.
