38 Billion In 1 Day – A new e-commerce record
Despite global trade tensions and slowing economies, Singles’ Day sales grew from USD30 billion in 2018 to USD38 billion. You can have a share of it.
Another new record has been set.
This year, most analysts believing that e-commerce sales for 11 November 2019 (Singles’ Day) will fall, due to global trade tensions, and the general economic slowdown.
However, sales reached USD38 billion, up from just over USD30 billion last year.
Singles’ Day started when some university students in China decided to celebrate being single. The idea went viral.
In 2009, Alibaba took that idea, and created an online retail event.
At that first Singles’ Day Sale had only 27 retailers, but grossed almost $8 million in sales.
If you do the math, that’s nearly $300,000 in sales per retailer, in a single day.
10 years later, in 2019, that hit USD38 billion in sales with 200,000 retailers participating.
As a business owner, or someone looking to start a business, this is a trend we cannot ignore.
We all know of businesses that have been put out of business by online retailers.
The fact is that the world has changed. The internet is not a “passing fad”.
And really, this is just the tip of the iceberg.
If this is something you’ve been thinking about, you haven’t missed the boat.
Only 0.01% of all internet users actually sell anything online. Which makes 99.99% of all internet users, pure consumers.
Historically, there’s never been a market this big, with so few people actually selling anything.
And the internet also provides us with the ability to reach a global audience, follow up with them automatically, and make sales automatically.
You can be selling 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, without needing to pay rent, hire store assistants, or even standing at a cash register to collect money.
If I summarize that, that’s sales and marketing automation, low cost, and available to small businesses, low overheads, without the need for heavy fixed cost, and the ability to reach a global market, with, at this time, fairly low competition.
And you can do this from home or anywhere you have an internet connection.
I’ve witnessed this first hand.
I took 20 years to develop and grow my legal career. And I was at the very top of that industry.
Within 6 months of starting to learn to run an online business from home, I replaced that income.
A market this size means that you just need a really small percentage of it to make a good living.
And I’m not even great at technology. I had secretaries print my emails for me to dictate replies to.
So if I can get a share of this market, I’m pretty sure, you can.
As with all things in life, it’s a question of us making a decision to start working towards it.
Will you start your online business in time to start profiting from the next sale season?
